Hannah's Fight Against LUPUS

Hannah Bennett is a bright, 14 year old, young lady who is suffering from neuropsychiatric lupus cerebritis. She was hospitalized on March 29, 2018 at Egleston in Atlanta in the Pediatric ICU and remains in critical condition. She was diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus one month ago after two previous hospitalizations for high fevers, kidney and liver complications, fatigue and severe joint pain. She was discharged home to mend on high-dose steroids and other lupus meds when she suddenly took a turn for the worse. Luckily, she was in her doctor’s office at the time and was able to get immediate medical care. She is now being treated aggressively with high-dose IV steroids, a chemo medication, and sedatives to combat the lupus flare-up that is affecting her precious brain. Each day is uncertain for her parents who have remained at her bedside making decisions that they never thought they would have to be making for their child. This unforeseen medical emergency in their life has obviously put a financial strain on them. Please give what you can to help Hannah’s parents remain by her side during this critical and unpredictable period of time. We know if Hannah could tell us, she would be expressing her desires to get back to her beloved competition and middle school cheerleading squads, her church youth group, her role as Student Council president, Beta Club functions, and her soccer team. She deserves for us to fight for her because she has always been a fighter in her own life. I am setting up this account for Hannah’s mom, Beth who has been a lifelong, dear friend and Hannah’s father, Burt who has been by Beth’s side for 26 years. They also share a beautiful, 12 year old daughter, Maeghan who would tell you that her big sister is her very best friend.
