Haley's BIG Surgery !!

Beschermde donatie

Hi everyone! I don't know if you are here because you know me or if you are here out of curiosity, but thank you either way. My name is Haley and my story is long with a lot of twists and turns so I am going to keep things as short as possible so I don't lose you. Here it goes… In June 2014 I found out I have a tumor in my throat that is 4" x 2" x 2.5" and is blocking half my airway and entangled in my vocal chords/voice box. At first they thought it was cancer, but thank goodness it wasn’t! Once we ruled out cancer I found a doctor in Atlanta, Dr. Klein, who was able to determine that I have a Lympho Venous Malformation. Apparently I am one of the most unique cases for an LVM so initially I had a  panel of 12-15 other surgeons at Emory reviewing my case and my scans. They were all stumped by my case, but now six months later Dr. Klein is ready to move forward with things. On April 30, 2015 I am having surgery. Surgery comes with so many unknowns and risks its mind boggling! At 25 I am faced with going into a surgery not knowing what I will wake up to and the possibility my life could change forever. They could have to cut into my neck, there are severe bleeding risks, possibility for infection, swallowing problems, losing my voice temporarily or permanently, and may require a tracheotomy. When I go into surgery I could be out of work for a minimum of 2 weeks upwards of a few months depending on what occurs during surgery. Unfortunately, I do not have enough paid leave or disability at work and will not have any income to cover my living expenses and bills nor will I have anything to go towards the medical bills from surgery. Money is not what I want to focus on during this time, but I am sure anyone can agree it is hard not to stress about money! I am looking at several thousands in debt due to missing work and the medical expenses. I am not one to ask for money and it makes me sad to think about doing so, but I feel I have no choice. If you have it whether it be $1 or $10 and find it within you to donate to my surgery I appreciate it more than words will ever be able to express! This is trully the most helpless, terrifying experience of my life and the love and generosity is what has gotten me through so far. I know that is what will get me through surgery and recovery as well! Thank you so much for taking your time to read this and I hope you have a great day!
