Hi everyone,

For those who may not know me, I’m Jessica’s best friend and former roommate of about seven years. In April of last year, Jess moved to North Carolina with her fiancé, Zach, and their beloved dog, Harley.

Early this morning, Jess and Zach woke up to every pet parent’s worst nightmare. Harley wasn’t acting like herself—she was extremely weak, unable to walk, vomiting, had an elevated heart rate, and a dangerously low body temperature. They rushed her to an emergency veterinary clinic in Raleigh, NC, where the team quickly realized something was very wrong. After observation and testing, it was discovered that Harley was bleeding internally and had a mass on her spleen.

Before surgery could even be considered, Harley needed additional testing, including a chest X-ray and an abdominal ultrasound. Unfortunately, the ultrasound revealed more spots on her liver, making surgery more complicated. Harley is scheduled to undergo surgery on 1/27 to stop the bleeding and remove what they can, with biopsy results still pending.

As you can imagine, the cost of emergency care, testing, surgery, and follow-up treatment is overwhelming. Still, Jess and Zach are doing everything in their power to give Harley the best chance possible and to get as many answers as they can for their sweet girl.

If you’ve ever met Harley, you know she is pure love—gentle, loyal, and endlessly sweet. We are holding onto hope, praying for a miracle, and surrounding her with all the love we can. Any donation, no matter the amount, would mean the world to Jess and Zach and help ease the financial burden during this incredibly difficult time.
