To meet brothers and sisters

The cellar was dark and cold. It was winter and I was shivering and very hungry. I don’t know why my mother had thrown me down here. My nose was broken, my hair had been pulled out, I had a huge gash on the back of my head where she had hit me with the rolling pin. I had been beaten and raped repeatedly. When the NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children) found me I had been down in the cellar for four days and nights, suffering from malnutrition and pneumonia. I was seven years old. The photo on my page is the only one I have before I entered the orphanage.
I was sent to an orphanage where I remained for 12 years, never having a visitor in all that time. When adoption day came – always Thursdays – I was so hoping to be adopted, but I was told I was there because nobody wanted me because I was too ugly. The first six years in the orphanage were very hard. The matron was eventually fired through the courts for being cruel to us. A new matron arrived and showed us what love was. She gave me my first hug ever. I was 13 years old.
Evidently my mother went on to have seven more children, five of them while I was in the orphanage and they were unknown to me. They have now, with much searching, been found.
It is my biggest wish to be reunited with them and to have that there is family out there that I have never met or known and maybe to be loved and given a special hug.
Unfortunately my funds are limited and I do not have the funds to fly to England to meet them. Is there anybody out there that could help me fulfil my one dream to meet the family I have never known and give them a big hug? I would also love to find matron who gave me my first hug and tell her how she changed my life and give her a hug back!
I would like to tell you a little about myself. I am a police reservist serving the community for the past 22 years. We do not get paid as the reservists are volunteers, but we perform the same duties as a full time police officer. I have won awards for top reservist and shooting competitions. I have also been given medals and certificates for dedication at our parades. During this time I served six years with the Child Protection Unit and four and a half years with the drug squad helping many youngsters doing community service as part of their sentence.
I also belong to an organisation called CARE (Centre for Animal Rehabilitation and Education) where we rescue, rehabilitate and release orphaned and injured wildlife back into the wild and specialising in baboons. I have raised 38 baby orphaned baboons whose mothers and troops have been shot, poisoned, trapped etc. The stories are heart breaking. I have been raising funds and sponsorships for them for about 20 years now and will continue to do so as I have a passion for animals. I guess it’s because I have never has a real family and I know animals will never hurt me intentionally.
