Spende geschützt
Dear friends and family,
As many of you already know I have been trying for years to adjust my legal status in the United States. I’ve been in the U.S. since 1995 and love this country. Over the years my family and I have tried on many occasions to legalize my status. Originally when my sister was my legal guardian, she and her husband tried to adopt and could not because in the state of Georgia siblings have to be 10 years older to adopt. Elizabeth is only 9 years older than me.
When my brother Rudy married, he and his wife filed to adopt me and the attorney never filed the paperwork and ended up disbarred. By the time we were made aware I had turned 16 and they could no longer legally adopt me.
Then we tried a special immigrant juvenile case and I was denied on a technicality. Needless to say it’s been a difficult process.
On August 24th, while paying a fine in Gwinnett County I was detained on an immigration hold. After two days in the Gwinnett County Detention Center I was transferred to ICE in downtown Atlanta and then to the Irwin Detention Center in Oscilla, about 3 hours away from Atlanta. I desperately want to get home to my girls Ava and Mia. Adjusting my status is going to require many lawyer’s fees, court costs and immigration filing fee’s. To be released there will also be bond fees. My family has been very supportive but the costs are so high I’m afraid they will not be able to cover them all.
Would you please consider helping me so I can get out of this jail cell and back to my girls, and hopefully stay in this awesome country?
Anything you can do to help us is greatly appreciated. Please pray for us!
Thank you!
All my love,
Johanna
