Cards for Kids

My name is Joey, and I am a full-time police officer and a part-time magician. With my day job, there is plenty of opportunity to see the positive results of my work day in and day out. As a magician, this is true too, but never more so on the days that I get to perform for the kids at my local hospital. There is nothing more rewarding – no arrest, no commendation – than seeing the smiles that magic tricks bring to those little faces. Any time I am having a rough day working the streets, I can look forward to those smiling faces, look forward to my stage on this ward or that ward, and everything becomes all right again.
Recently, some of the kids at the hospital have begun asking me how they too can learn magic. I want to start off simple and provide these young aspiring performers with a deck of cards and a beginner’s guide to magic. This way, any time someone asks me about learning magic, I will have something to get them off on the right track. A deck of Bicycle playing cards cost around $3, and the book that I have my eye on costs about $5. That’s $8 per kid – money that, on my policeman’s salary, will add up very quickly.
