DID YOU REALIZE: THIS PLAZA IS THE ONLY NEIGHBORHOOD SHOPPING CENTRE SERVING THEN ENTIRE LOWER WEST END OF THE CITY? AND THE ENTIRE AREA IS A "FOOD DESERT"????

UNIVERSITY PLAZA METRO IS UNDER THREAT OF BEING REPLACED
WITH CANADIAN TIRE AND 10-BAY AUTO GARAGE
What about the impacts to our livability, environment and long-term needs?
Ø NO more grocery store? Seniors/students/residents walk to Metro at the Plaza. We have only 2 grocery stores in a town with over 24,000 residents but over 17 auto repair shops, ample hardware stores, and 2 more Canadian Tires just 11 – 17 minutes away.
Ø The 10 auto repair bays will border sensitive Conservation Land/Wetland & residences
Ø Long term contaminants, noise, increased traffic, reduced parking, reduced safety in the Plaza
Ø Reduced livability of the area, reduced property values
Ø City is giving approvals with NO environmental impact or livability studies done
Ø TELL CITY HALL, RIOCAN AND CANADIAN TIRE to stop bulldozing this through without studying the impacts to our community and public consultation!

We have now incorporated a not for profit organization to advocate for area residents who will be affected by this monumental change. Funds are required to: pay the costs of incorporation; retain legal and other professional counsel to assist us; and pay for supplies used in the campaign.
