Dear Friends and Family,

On Wednesday September22, 2017, the island of Puerto Rico was ravaged by Cat 5 Hurricane Maria.  Since that day, 3.4 million Americans have been with without power, water, food and basic medical support.

GREENBURGH4PR is a collective partnership within  The Town of Greenburgh and it's  Police and Fire Departments, Town Hall, School District, commercial establishments and Town residents to supply much needed relief for the devastated people of Puerto Rico .

GREENBURGH4PR
is working with Caridades; which is the charitable outreach arm of the Diocese of Mayaguez. Caridades services the island's poor stretching from the northwestern town of Aquadilla to the southwestern town of San German.

The towns of our focus include, but are not limited to Las Marias and Maricao.  These remote areas specifically struggle in the best of times, with a median AMERICAN household income of approximately $13,000 annually.

These argricultural towns that once grew citrus, coffee and sugar cane have lost 80% of their crop and face no prospect of agriculture for at least a year.

Our mission is to collect, ship and distribute necessities to these small towns not yet serviced by FEMA , with the help of Caridades and volunteers from the Knights of Columbus Puerto Rico. Because of the urgency, we have created a short window with a goal line date of December, 2017.

Your contributions will be used to cover the general costs of shipping. We have estimated that 10,000. lbs. of supplies will cost approx. $20,000 shipped via air freight.  We are hoping for some help with transit, so if you know an organization who can help reduce our cost, that would be an even greater contribution.
Any extra funds will be used to purchase solar inflatable lanterns from one of our corporate sponsors LuminAid. You can copy and paste the link below to make a discounted purchase.

We have also partnered with Sawyer, who provides water filtration/purification systems. These systems   are portable, lightweight and with the recent outbreaks of Leptospirosis, in dire need.
Please follow the links below for details on the infection and the products Sawyer has discounted to us.
