GREAT GUANA CAY / HURRICANE DORIAN RELIEF
Guana Cay is a close knit community with roots that run generations deep. There are no strangers on Guana Cay as kindness abounds on this quaint island. This fund is being set up to provide immediate financial assistance for the local residents and small business owners to start rebuilding their lives.
On September 1, 2019 Hurricane Dorian came barreling through Great Guana Cay as a Category 5 hurricane. We have received limited communication from the island but the few messages we've been able to receive have said they have experienced total devastation, roads are impassable, buildings are destroyed, Atlantic side dune is leveled, people are without homes, food and water, and in desperate need of evacuation.
In addition to monetary donations, we will be sharing drop-off locations for items that are needed as soon as we can get planes on the ground and the seas calm enough to get boats to the island.
We guarantee that 100% of these funds will go directly to the residents of Great Guana Cay and the long road ahead to rebuild. Funds will be used for tarps, generators, tools, building supplies, and if enough is raised we hope to be able to assist folks with furniture and appliances and other items that are necessary to regain a normal way of life, albeit their normal will never be the same again.
We know there are so many people that hold this special island in their hearts and now it is our turn to show them how loved they are and that we will be with them every step of the way.
