Long Island Bartender Relief Fund

Local bartenders  stand to be absolutely devestated by the mandate to shut down bars and restaurants for the foreseeable future. It’s uncertain if some bars and restaurants  will be able weather the storm to reopen at all. The decision while necessary to help protect the public is going to cause many people to lose their livelihood and more often than not the ability to support their families. No one was prepared for this shutdown and many are left without adequate savings of any kind to help pay for rent, insurance, food and every day expenses. There are no paid sick days or paid leave in the hospitality industry. If you don’t work you don’t get paid, tips are the lifeblood of the industry.  For those living to paycheck to paycheck which is most in the industry the loss of one to two paychecks is the difference between life and death.
Bartending is a career. A life choice.  There is blood sweat and tears. Late nights. Time spent away from families. Missing holidays. Research. Craftsmanship. Science. Math. Skills. Hospitality is a skill. They are there for you. To get to know you. To make you really great drinks. Seriously cocktail culture on Long Island is something else right now and we couldn’t be more proud .To listen to you. To treat you with kindness and warmth. They get invested in your families and your life. We’re just asking you to take a minute to get invested in theirs.  They desperately need help and fast. 
Funds are currently being raised via various organizations throughout New York City to help provide immediate relief for those in the hospitality industry but none have specifically  arisen to address the needs of the countless hospitality industry workers on Long Island. Insert The Great Bartender Bailout of 2020.

We are bartenders and our goal is to be able to come together as a community and help support our own. Throughout our careers we have selflessly given our time and resources to help other charitable organizations raise funds.  Whether it was a giftcard for any number of causes or participating in competitions. Now is the time where we need help raising funds.

The funds raised here will allow us to cover a full weekend shift for as many  bartenders as we can.  Providing them relief as quickly as we can. You are not alone. It’s a scary time and we’re all trying to keep heads above water.

Bartenders actively working prior to the CORONAVIRUS on Long Island in Nassau or Suffolk County are encouraged to reach out. WE WANT TO HELP YOU!
