Graignamanagh Hall Improvement Works.

Graignamanagh Abbey hall is a community building at the heart of the town, over the years it has been a integral part of the community providing a space for clubs and youth groups, as well as community events, at minimal cost to the community, as well as being used as a school and at one time used by the church during the Duiske Abbey restoration in the 1970's.
The Committee of Graignamanagh Abbey Hall are made up of volunteers and they continue to try get this fantastic community building back to full use in the town. Kilkenny County Council and Kilkenny Leader Partnership have gotten behind us to make a final push to get the lower section of the front of the Hall finished and tidied up with a new clock and bell, new fencing and nets and the old basketball/tennis court resurfaced with an upgraded surface as well as fixing and replastering the wall at the court and creating steps and an access ramp from the hall to the court level. These works will give back a very valuable space the community. Normally we could try to organise a series of fundraising events and would have a lot of different groups using to hall that would be supporting our costs of running the building and continuing works. 2020 and 21 have proved a challenge and we are almost totally without income. We need to raise monies to take part of the opportunity here to get the surrounds of the building finished. Along with the joint works with Kilkenny CoCo. and Kilkenny Leader Partnership which we have to find part funding for, we are hoping to do some additional tidying works on the building itself, if we reach our funding goal, such as replacing the flat roof at the entrance, fixing some missing slates on the main roof and fix some more structural issues with the main roof, as well as painting the hall so it looks it's best as a prominent historic building at the heart of the town.
It was opened as far as we know in 1861 and in 2021 we will be celebrating the 160 year anniversary of Graignamanagh Hall being in use in our Community. Thank you and we hope you can support our efforts. Graignamanagh Hall Committee.
