The Goodyear sport and social club is recognised by its members and the wider community as a valued key social club venue located as part of the Drumchapel and surrounding areas with over 50 years of service to the local community. The Drumchapel community is planning its 70th year celebrations and the GSSC will play an integral role in those shared celebrations.

The GSSC has hosted many memorable social events and supported many local groups and charities, raising money for good causes to benefit the wider community.

The GSSC like many local clubs have experienced a reduction in usage and income over many years combined with the impact on the business over the past year related to the Covid19 pandemic. The club looks very tired and in need of urgent attention as part of the planned recovery. The GSSC is in transition to re-establish a newly formed management committee and regulated by OSCR.

We are developing with the support of the members a (4) stage club recovery plan which aims to:

• Securing the clubs immediate future

• Putting in place staff/management/legal structure fit for purpose

• Introduce a new legal structure

• Action urgent essential maintenance and repairs

• Address urgent business risk debt and implement a sustainable debt management plan

We need to raise emergency club capital funds to start this (4) stage business recovery journey. We are fully committed to the shared aim of securing the GSSC as a key historical hospitality community resource.

The Goodyear social club for many is all about positive memories for many local people and families, it’s an iconic building recognised throughout its community that offers a ‘great night oot’.
