Hope Project - 36 Bed Crisis Accommodation Fit-out!

In 2022, I started privately fundraising to build a $3M crisis accommodation building for women and children who have left their home as a result of family and domestic violence. In, 2023, with only $1.5M raised, we commenced building in parallel to our continued fundraising. We have worked nights and weekends digging holes, painting, drilling holes in steel, moving concrete, you name it, it's been a family affair and whilst we have sacrificed our family time for this project, we are grateful to have met some amazing humans along the way that have too, pitched in to help us both financially and physically.

Fast forward to 2024 and we are 6 weeks away from finishing the build! Yes, you heard correct!

In two years, my husband Josh and I, have raised $3m in financial and in-kind donations and successfully build a brand new, 36 bed, two-storey townhouse development.

This building will be donated to the Goldfields Womens Refuge for their ongoing management and not for profit offering to the community. This accommodation will be life changing for them.. currently, they have a facility that is a 19 bed, shared accommodation facility that provides safe housing for more than 3000 women and children per year! Those numbers increasing by more than 15% each year.

In fact, in the time that I started fundraising, 147 women in Australia have lost their lives as a result of family and domestic violence. You see now, why we were so desperate to build this facility, despite not even having the funds to complete. Sadly, the situation is not getting better and the need for safe housing across Australia is needed and that is why, we have done something about it and used our skills and our contacts to do something great. And now, we just need that little bit of help to close this one out.

The important and beautiful part of the build, making these units look and feel like the beautiful little safe havens they have been built to be. To do this, we have one last fundraising push to see if we can rally together funds for interior fit out.

We are looking to small donations from a large number of people to raise the $100k to purchase beds, fridges, dining tables, linen, cutlery, crockery and homewares. We also need funds to complete the site security and lighting system to ensure our families are safe and tucked away in these little safe havens.
