We're raising funds to bring our half hour, satirical one act play to Edinburgh Fringe!
Holmes/Shah follows former Real Housewife of Salt Lake City Jen Shah and disgraced biotech entrepreneur Elizabeth Holmes at Bryan Federal Prison when they team up to try to scam their way into an early release.
Margaux Poupard (Co-Writer and Producer/Director) and Meg Hayes (Co-Writer and Producer/ELIZABETH HOLMES) met ten years ago through the SF sketch comedy group Killing My Lobster and have written, performed, and taught sketch comedy together ever since. Outside of comedy, they’ve bonded over being certified Grandma girls, former Catholics, and most importantly, massive Bravo fans, specifically Real Housewives. When two of their passions - scammers and reality tv - converged in a real life scammer being sentenced to serve her time where a Bravolebrity was also serving time…well it led them to wonder, what are those two going on about in there, ya think?
Lucky for Meg, Margaux and Chelsea Bearce (JEN SHAH) collaborated on Killing My Lobster's, Don't You Die on Me, an all femme action themed sketch comedy show. The trio also worked together on Romancing the Sketch, a virtual romance themed show during the COVID lockdown.
Thanks to Meg’s spot-on impression of Holmes, Chelsea's bold comedy style and Margaux replacing the whole of Algebra I and II with pop culture knowledge, a new one act was born, Holmes/Shah.
Much like our protagonists, we are stronger together, but apart, we’re also not that bad!
Margaux’s writing has won Best Comedy TV Pilot at the LA Comedy Film Festival, it’s been performed at SF Sketchfest multiple times, and she’s an alum of Stowe Story Labs. She’s written on a dozen live shows with Killing My Lobster, and only tortured her friends and family through Improv Level I. She works as a copywriter for her day job, and co-hosts a pop culture nostalgia podcast called Old Millennials for the love of the game.
Meg Hayes is an educator and comedian based in California. She has been writing and performing comedy throughout the Bay Area for 20 years, with special appearances at San Francisco Improv Festival, Sacramento Comedy Festival, and SF Sketchfest. Meg has written and acted in over a dozen productions with Killing My Lobster, and has performed improv since before she was a virgin. Meg’s lack of health education from her Catholic school led her to co-host Vicious Cycle, a comedy podcast about periods.
Chelsea Bearce is a comedian from Benicia, California by way of New York. Cutting her teeth at legendary clubs like The Stand and Broadway Comedy Club, she can now be found headlining at the Sacramento and San Francisco Punch Lines, as well as breweries, clubs, and festivals across America. She was a Featured Headliner at the Colorado Springs Comedy Festival, came in third place at the 45th annual San Francisco International Comedy Competition, and won Best of Fest at Big Pine Comedy Festival in Phoenix, Arizona. She is a regular on The Gateway Show and Don’t Tell Comedy, and tours with her husband, comedian Matt Walker, as The Lovebirds. Chelsea created the viral music video parody, “Curvy” and a comedy special, “That’s So Stupid”, out now. She created and produced the weekly online game show “Who Wrote This S#!T?”, and is the proud mother of two children, who are as amazing as she is.
We would love your help to bring our singular comedy show to Edinburgh this August!
