This is our friend Sarah, she’s 27, lives with lupus and never asks for any help (despite her really needing it), we are reaching out on her behalf. In case you didn't know, Lupus is an incurable autoimmune disease where the body's immune system mistakenly attacks its own healthy tissues and organs.

What happened you may ask? Well on Saturday the 17th of January Sarah woke up and lost a lot of blood, like a lot!!

We understand that these things can be graphic so we won’t give you all the details, but she did also pass a large mass, which requires some further investigation.

Now Sarah is a machine, working a million different jobs to help fund her healthcare bills, treatment and medication, as she is chronically ill. After her incident on Saturday she now requires surgery to figure out what is hurting our amazing gal!

Unfortunately, despite Sarah working her butt off with her 5 million jobs, she is about to undergo unpaid placement as a student dietitian for the entire year. That's 800 hours unpaid work.

To break it down, this week after her incident it would’ve cost her close to 2k, just in medication and specialist appointments alone. Apparently she’s not "sick enough" to receive any govt support but she also isn't well enough to be able to work full time , heck even part time.

As her friends we can’t stand by and watch her quality of life diminish as she waits on the 3 month long, public waiting list for surgery. Whilst neglecting her appointments, as she has a history of doing so, to save a buck.

She is one of the strongest, most resilient and inspiring ladies, despite many trials and tribulations. One could describe her as a ray of sunshine and the best friend anyone could ask for.

I (Anna) have known Sarah for 13 years. We have always been silly and goofy together and been there for each other through hard times. She has been there for me as I became a mum and treated my kids like they are her own. She's often spoken about the future wanting to become a mother herself and as one of her best friends I want to support her in every way possible to make that goal come true.

I (Kristin) have known Sarah for a few years now, we met at art school and ended up being studio buddies in our final year. One thing about her that was obvious since the moment I met her was, that she’ll always be there to support people around her, offering help and kindness. I’ve seen her face so many obstacles in the time I’ve known her and her strength when dealing with everything, especially recently, is admirable.

So it’s time for us to gather together and support Sarah by raising some money so she can get the surgery she desperately needs. This will help her get on the road to recovery so she’s able to keep achieving her goals and continue to celebrate some wins.
