Glenn's Everest Base Camp Trek for Lupus Victoria - Oct' 24
Donation protected
My name is Glenn and in October I will be hiking to Mt Everest Base Camp.
Mt Everest is the world's highest Mountain above sea level situated in the Himalayas on Nepal's border with China.
I have been training for a year to prepare myself for the 25 day trek which involves walking at high altitudes reaching 5364 metres (17598 ft) for up to 8 hours a day while carrying 15kg on my back through tricky terrain.
October is National Lupus Awareness Month in Australia.
My Mum and Sister have Lupus. I have watched them both struggle for years through this little known incurable, silent disease. I will be dedicating my trek to raise money for the School of Clinical Science of Monash Health (SCS), directly supporting the Kim Jolly Lupus Research Fund in connection with Lupus Victoria.
Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease characterised by the body’s immune system attacking its own tissues and organs, leading to inflammation and tissue damage. This condition can affect various parts of the body, including joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, brain, heart, and lungs.
All money raised will help with much needed research towards finding a cure.
