On July 23, 2020, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, great uncle and friend, Gidalthi Ojeda-Delgado passed away too quickly and unexpectedly. He leaves behind a beautiful family; his children: Gidalthi, Suld-Sireth Burga (Daniel), Zuleyth Sibley (Shea); his grandsons and granddaughters, as well as an immeasurable amount of family and close friends.

Brother Ojeda was a valuable member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He comes from one of the founding LDS families in Peru. On July 22, 1962 he was the first ordained priest in Cuzco, Peru. While pursuing his Civil Engineering Degree, he was called and served in many LDS Church callings; Founder of The Peruvian Association | ASPERSUD Offices of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Brother Ojeda always was a faithful servant to God, building LDS chapels for over 38 years throughout South America. On his last church and career calling, Brother Gidalthi Ojeda was called for the construction of the temple in Guayaquil, Ecuador. It was his most gratifying and spiritual experience as he often called it.

Three weeks ago he was admitted to the hospital for what was supposed to be a simple surgery, removal of a tumor on his left kidney, but along the way, they identified scar tissue that was from a surgery that occurred 40+ years ago. After 3 surgeries in 5 days, the doctors and nurses were so impressed with how well his recovery was going, he was making slow but steady progress. The plans this week were for him to get transferred to the rehab floor at the hospital, where he was going to do intensive therapy. There was so much hope and he was looking forward to getting home. Unfortunately, another complication occurred and he was admitted to the O.R. where he had another surgery. The doctors assured that the surgery went well and that he was still on his way to recovery and heading to the recovery rehab floor. The following morning he suffered a heart attack and was put on life support, but unfortunately he could not recover from it. Brother Ojeda passed away on the morning of July 23, 2020 surrounded by so much love and his children.

We are asking for friends and family to help raise funds to help alleviate the financial burden that comes with the sudden passing of a loved one and to provide support to his children through these deeply troubling times. The Ojeda family has experienced so much tragedy and grief in the last couple of years, including the loss of his oldest son, Jose Santos Ojeda, and his daughter, Milka Ojeda. The passing of Brother Ojeda was something that was unexpected.

Please help us support his family during this difficult time. Brother Ojeda was always such a beautiful example of serving others without ever asking for anything in return, a gentle leader that helped others in times of need, he was a kind-hearted man and he will be dearly missed, but he will forever be a light of goodness in this world.

All funds will go directly to the Ojeda family, to the account of Brother Ojeda's daughter,  Zuleyth Sibley Ojeda.
