Help Sami Study Abroad in Ireland

Donation protected
Sami is a 16 year old leader and giver.  The oldest of four siblings, Sami often assumes the role of "caretaker" for her younger sister who has Cerebral Palsy.  She learned ASL on her own so that she could teach her sister to communicate.  Sami began Irish Dancing at the age of four, following in the footsteps of cousins, grandmas, aunts and more.  For the past 12 years, she has continued to balance her love of Irish Dance with her studies and responsibility.

Sami began at a very young age, to give to others.  She ran a lemonade stand at the age of seven, raising funds for an orphanage she heard about.  At 12, she began volunteering at the Columbus Science Museum, where she is a lead volunteer in the Little Kidspace area, specifically designed for children under the age of five. There Sami interacts with kids on a weekly basis, and runs animal and art shows with the kids.  Sami has put in over 900 hours of volunteer service here and has been given awards from peers, and management, even receiving the Elite "Shining Moment" award for her quick response and initiative when an animal tank was tainted and the animals lives were in jeopardy.

Sami also faced adversity in middle school where she was bullied.  This ultimately led to a school change. Being the trouper she is; she took a stand for herself and has overcome the obstacles.  Now in High School where she is an honor roll student, she continues her dance, runs track, plays volleyball, has a part time job, and even started and runs the Suicide Prevention Support Group for teens in her school.

Sami loves her Irish Community.  Every year, she participates in the various parades and festivals put on by our local Shamrock Club, where her parents are members.  Together they volunteer in various events within their Irish Community.

This summer she will be participating in the Irish Life Experience .  It's a four week summer study abroad program that will allow her to delve even more into her passion of Irish culture.  It will truly be the summer of a lifetime for Sami!  An opportunity that she so deserves.

Please consider making a donation.  Big or small-any amount is appreciated and one step closer to her goal. This resilient young woman has given so much of her heart and soul to others, so please think about giving something back to her.  Help make her dreams come true.
