Marvellous Maccie needs your help!

Meet Maccie. A little kitten from the Philippines who fought to survive at no more than 3.5 weeks old. This picture was taken by a local child who, with his auntie, had placed her in this 'quiet place' to die peacefully. They didn't want to see her squashed on the road like another kitten that morning, probably her sibling.

But Maccie got herself up and out of that 'quiet place' of death and made it into the middle of the road again where we came across her being played with by 2 dogs. She could barely walk, one eye was sealed shut and the other was barely open. She weighed next to nothing and could easily curl up in the palm of my hand. We took her back to our apartment, cleaned her eyes and gave her a few drops of water. I thought she would be dead in the morning but at least being out of the 90% humidity and with a little fluid in her system, it gave her a small chance.

But Maccie kept fighting. She slept all night and we didnt hear a peep out of her. She must have been so tired.

The next day, she just wanted to be with us. I took her to a nearby vet who confirmed she needed antibiotics, multivitamins and a wormer. She weighed only 0.25 of a pound.

Over the next few days, she gradually improved and showed us just how thankful she was.

We never knew she had such beautiful big round eyes.

She began to play so I took her down to the beach to explore which she loved.

She found playing on the beach quite exhausting!

With everyday that passes, her character develops. She has gone from being so fragile, probably only hours from death to a perfect little cat, happy, healthy and very grateful to be alive. She gives us so much love and laughter.

Cats on this small island in the Philippines are not well liked. Most are considered vermin and its not rare for them to have boiling water and stones thrown at them. I have tried homing her on the island to someone who will keep her as a house cat but so far I have not had one enquiry, despite offering to pay for her to be spayed. I have also spoken to the nearest animal rescue centre which isn't even on this island. They are currently at maximum capacity and explained that if they did squeeze her in, she will probably spend her whole life with them as it's incredibly hard to rehome cats in the philippines.

For all these reasons, I have begun investigating getting her back to the UK where she could live in the countryside with my family. She will have field after field to play, explore and hunt in and cuddles from my family and the other cats we have. Obviously getting her to the UK is not cheap. It costs at least £600 which includes her vaccines, a blood test, a microchip and the airfair.

Any donations, tiny, small or more, towards the cost of getting her back to the UK would be so greatly recieved by Maccie, me and my boyfriend. One less beer tonight isn't very much for you, but for Maccie it makes a huge difference. She is a little ray of sunshine and after fighting so hard to survive, I think it's my turn to fight for her and get her back to the UK where she can live a loved and happy life into ripe old age.

Any additonal or left over money will be donated to ARRCC, the rescue centre who will help me get Maccie to the UK once I have left the country. They have a strict NO KILL policy and the work they do is invaluable to the animals of the Philippines.
