Get new suspension wheels for my wheelchair
Spende geschützt
Hi, my name is Jack, I have cerebral palsy and I’m trying to raise money for a new set of suspension wheels for my wheelchair, at the start of the pandemic I had to get an operation to relocate both of my hips as they were both more than 70% dislocated. Although the operation went well, I was left in a lot more pain afterwards then I was beforehand, so much that I couldn't get to sleep at night and sadly I still feel the majority of that pain to this day.
As of writing this I am currently in fifth year at high school and also go to college two days a week and up to the gym every day. On a day to day basis I use an electric attachment for the front of my wheelchair called the batec to drive myself to these places but due to the fact I have no suspension in my wheelchair this really hurts my hips.
I am looking to raise money for a set of wheels called Loopwheels that use three big curved carbon spokes instead of lots of small straight metal ones, the big carbon spokes are able to compress when going over bumps, this allows my chair to have suspension which would help my pain greatly.
I am looking to do a sponsored push into Dundee from where I live in Monifieth which is roughly 10 kilometres to raise this money and please ask you to sponsor my efforts complete this challenge. This 10k push will be really difficult and I am willing to put in all the effort I have to do it, I've already trialled the wheels and they make a massive difference to my pain, these cost £2,500 but sadly the NHS can't fund items like this although they have helped me in many other ways.
thanks for the help, ill keep you updated.
