Geoff's Tupperware Box (Trafford South Foodbank)

Donation protected

On the 9th August some members of Sale’s friendliest running club Run The Joules did a marathon made up of four loops from our usual meeting spot on the corner of Clarendon Crescent and Dane Road.

We left some sweets and chocolate on a table on our usual corner for our snacks to keep us going between loops. We knew it was risky, and lo and behold when we returned for our final loop the following had been stolen:

A bag of Maynard’s Sport Mix

Half a dozen Toffee Crisps

All of Geoff’s dolly mixtures and jelly babies

Geoff’s Tupperware box

We assume that the confectionery has all now been eaten and that Geoff’s Tupperware box has long been stripped down in to parts and sold on the black market. The thieves left the empty toffee crisp packet as a final insult. This is probably the darkest day for running since Sale Harriers had their tuckshop ram-raided.

Because Run The Joules believe in peace, love and harmony (rather than all out violence) we have decided to respond by doing a special run for Trafford South Foodbank on Monday 23rd August. Members of the running community will bring down food, and we'll encourage local people to the same.

However, a suggestion on the Sale M33 Facebook Group, which is the bastion of common sense, decency and logical thought, suggested a Gofundme to replace Geoff's Tupperware. Who are we to argue? We therefore propose that if this page raises at least £5, members of Run The Joules will club together and raise £5 themselves to cover a new food storage facility (with securely fitting lid) for Geoff. This means that everything raised through this page can be used to buy food for Trafford South Foodbank, safe in the knowledge that Geoff's leftovers or sweeties are safe and sound and will degrade more slowly due to being in an air-tight environment.

If you donate through this page the following will happen:

1. Your money will be withdrawn on 23rd August 2021, the same day as our run.

2. 100% of the money raised will be used to buy food, as per the request list on Trafford South Foodbank's website

3. A photo of all the food purchased will be displayed on the Run The Joules Facebook page, with a big thank you from all of us

4. A photo of Geoff and his new tupperware will also be posted (subject to Geoff's approval, I haven't asked him about all this yet).
