I'm Dying, help me help my girls before I go.

This is something a mother never wants to have to do, and I am no exception.

My name is Gen (Genevieve). In March 2024, after a brief period of illness, I was diagnosed with aggressive cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer). I’m a single Mum with two beautiful girls who are my world. Annabelle is 9 and Libby is 18, and like any mum in these circumstances my greatest concern is for my girls.

I’ve never liked asking for help, and as a Nurse I’m often the one providing it, but today, a little over 2 weeks since diagnosis, I’ve been told that my time is limited. Less than a month at best. As I have Crohn’s disease, I was unable to get life insurance which leaves me in a financial situation I hoped I would never be in.

I was told initially that we would have more time, however treatment has been unsuccessful, and unfortunately it is likely that in less than a month I will be gone, leaving my parents and my ex-partner Mark raising the girls.

Libby is in first year of University and Annabelle is still so young. My family are understandably devastated, and I just want to ensure that there is time for everyone to grieve without additional financial burden. I want Mark to be able to be there for the girls and work less while they work through their grief.

All money raised will be used to pay funeral costs, support for Mark and the girls for the next few months and the remainder of the money will be put in trust for my girls to help Mark and my parents raise them and hopefully help them a little when they start out on their own.

If you are able to donate something, anything really to help my girls, I will be eternally grateful.

I just want to remove this worry and embrace the little time left that I have with my family.
