Reece Blackshaw Penistone Judo Olympic Dream

Donation protected
Hello and thank you for taking time to read my story. I started judo at the age of 8 back in 2018. I started my judo career at Penistone judo club with my coach Matt Moorhead .I entered my first competition at the age of 9 in the Goole championships, earning bronze. I am 14 now and have fallen in love with the sport of judo over the years. I have been selected for the current England team due to my national success.
my achievements:
  • bronze and silver in the British championships
  • Gold in the English open
  • Bronze in the English closed
  • Gold in the heart of England
  • Silver in the welsh open
  • I currently have a medal tally of 20
  • numerous gold medals in smaller competitions.
I have also had relative success internationally, having competed twice abroad winning fights but losing the bronze medal final both times.
My current category is cadet 50 kg . As i grow i will be moving up in wight and division. When i reach 16 i will be into the juniors 55 kg and so on.
My current UK ranking is 2nd after i came second in the English open .
This dropped me from the number 1 ranking .
My training . I have turned my dads garage into a gym . Monday after school 20 min work out. Monday nights from 7:30 pm at Sheffield judo club . Tuesdays after school 20 min gym work out then from 7:30 Huddersfield judo club.
Wednesday is the same with a after school 20 minuet gym work out then 7:30 at Sheffield judo club.
Thursday is my rest day.
Friday after school 20 min gym work out then Huddersfield judo club.
Saturday morning is judo at my own Penistone judo club. I would just like to give my coach Matt a big shout out for taking me everywhere.
Sundays is again a rest day unless its a competition weekend or if it is the one Sunday a month i have to be at Walsall for the England training camp.
My commitment and dedication is second to none . My goal is to represent England in the LA Olympics 2028.
I am looking for funding in order to help pay for up coming competitions abroad and compete for our country . There is very little money in judo, especially when compared to other sports and it is largely self funded. Competitions abroad cost between £400-£800 each as well as training camps (usually slightly cheaper). I am entering the cadet European cup in Spain in Feb. I am not entering Italy in Feb as its just too much cost in one month. Then in march Bremen Germany. There are many computations over the next year. One a month ranging from £400 to £800.
Thank you very much, any support is appreciated
