Gayla and Joey Patterson

Please take a moment and consider donating to help Gayla and Joey Patterson. Joey was diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease in May of 2023. It is a rare and terminal neurodegenerative disease. They had a family business for over 20 years and Joey has been unable to work, as his health has rapidly declined. His physician is located in Kansas City so they are traveling quite a bit to doctor’s appointments. Gayla is a surgical nurse at Mercy. She has had to take multiple days off work to be with Joey. The medical bills are enormous and have taken a toll on their family. They need our help so they can focus on their time together instead of mounting bills!

This past year was a very difficult time in my life. Gayla and I met at one of my doctor’s appointments. She could see I was terrified, anxious and basically a wreck. She showed me grace, love, compassion and kindness. I was a complete stranger and she made me feel like I was one of her closest friends. She always had comforting words, prayers, a huge smile and a bear hug that instantly calmed me. She is not only a bright spot for me, but to all her patients. She, Joey and their children deserve to spend these next months making memories and enjoying each other, not worrying about finances.
