The Gambia has one of the weakest if not the weakest primary healthcare systems in the world. No reliable prenatal or postnatal care for mothers, no structured infant or maternal care, and no elderly care.
Most Gambians , who have family or relatives living and working abroad, depend on that support system for nourishment and healthcare, and for those who do not have such a support system, they are left to the mercy of International Charities and Non-Governmental Organizations, or to simply fend for themselves.
With the advent of the COVID19 contagion, and with nations closing their borders to international vessels, basic necessities for food and hygiene are becoming scarcer by the day with no relief on the horizon.
We at The Global Democracy Project have partnered with the Animal Welfare Advocates Association - Gambia and West Coast Radio to raise funds for the most vulnerable elderly and poor families.
The campaign will go on until the Covid19 menace has abated or until the end of the year, whichever is later. As funds are raised they will be transferred swiftly to our Board Leadership Team of The GDPGambia for targeted distribution. We shall share with you some of the families who benefit from your generous gifts.
