FL Cherry Blossom Princess Program

Donation protected
I am thrilled to finally share with my colleagues, friends, and family the wonderful news that I have been chosen by the Florida State Society to represent the State of Florida as the 2016 Cherry Blossom Princess.

Each US State, territory, and several foreign embassies have selected one female leader to serve as their ambassador for the week-long personal development and cultural exchange program, which will be held Sunday, April 10 to Saturday, April 16, 2016.

This is both an honor and an opportunity, as I will be sharing the rich culture, and history of our great State throughout the week-long Cherry Blossom Princess Program, sponsored by the National Conference of State Societies.

My keen interest in US-Japan relations was initially inspired in 2014 when I participated in the TOMODACHI Generation Initiative, a joint cultural exchange program of the US-Japan Council (USJC) and the US Embassy in Tokyo.

Attending USJC's First Annual Conference held in Japan (November 2015), furthered my knowledge of the US-Japan partnership. While in Tokyo, I was reunited with my friends from 2014 at the TOMODACHI Summit, and I returned to the US, more determined to play a part in building the TOMODACHI Generation .

The Cherry Blossom trees serve as a yearly reminder of our international partnership. As the 2016 Florida Cherry Blossom Princess, I desire to emphasize our state's history as well as our current relationship with Japan. I am fundraising to host a luncheon at the Florida Embassy in Washington, DC for all 60 Cherry Blossom Princesses to engage in the importance of TOMODACHI, along with the need for more domestic and international female leaders.

It is an honor and a privilege to represent my home State, and I welcome everyone's interest and questions regarding the 2016 Cherry Blossom Princess Program.
