November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month.

By the end of the year, it’s estimated that over 130,000 lives will be lost to lung cancer, the leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States. Among those who were lost this year was Dana Potter, a familiar voice on southern tier radio for over 40 years. A local legend, and more importantly a Dad who I love and miss everyday. He also had the honor of being called, “Grandpa” by 4 grandkids who adored him and will miss his Sunday morning visits with donuts in hand.

He was a beloved friend of many in the community, always willing to lend a helping hand with a smile on his face and a laugh that was contagious. His hobby was cruising the warm, Caribbean islands as often as he could.

For over 2 years, my Dad fought this killer beast with so much strength and dignity. He also became a proponent for early detection by encouraging others who were at risk to get a CT scan. It is in his honor and memory that I am asking for your help. Please help me raise money to benefit The American Lung Association. Any amount will make an impact.
