Legal fund

As many of you know, the past year and a half have been the toughest I have ever experienced. Having gone through a court case in 2019, relating to domestic violence, where I represented myself, I now find myself, once again, in the middle of a court case. Except the outcome of this case is even more important, as it isn't just about my own safety but about the custody arrangement of my daughter.

So far I have been representing myself with a barrister helping me on a direct access basis to keep costs down. Even this "pay as you go" budget version of legal counsel has been a real financial struggle for me, especially during the pandemic which has put further strain on finances. Every single telephone call, e-mail drafted or hearing scheduled costs hundreds of pounds and the amounts quickly add up. Most people are shocked at how little support is available and how many women in my position do not qualify for legal aid, which I sadly don't. Despite being a single parent solely responsible for financially supporting my daughter there is no legal support available.

As emotionally draining as this all is, I know that I have to keep fighting for what I believe in, which is that my daughter should grow up in a safe and stable home, free from violence and abuse.

Many of my friends have asked if they can contribute something or help in any way. I have set this page up so that those of you who want to and can afford to make a contribution are able to do so. Please do not feel obliged and remember that even small amounts are helpful.

It's not an easy decision to share these private details about a very difficult side of my life, and as such I would appreciate if you don't share this page publicly on social media.
