Support Our School Garden

We need your help! What a difference a year can make: we began volunteering in the Garden at Westside Global Awareness Magnet a year ago and have taken the Garden from humble beginnings to a thriving edible garden. The children have grown cucumbers and broccoli, tomatoes and peppers, lettuce and fava beans. They have tasted pomegranates, figs, persimmons and passion fruit, they have prepared and eaten kale salads (with unexpected enthusiasm), sautéed peas and purple potatoes. Now they are looking forward to trying the two giant watermelons that have grown over the summer.

Although the Garden is thriving, we need your help in purchasing a new tool shed, a hose, shovels, cultivators, garden shears, organic fertilizers and pest control products, magnifying glasses to study and observe insects, kitchen utensils for our cooking projects.

Our ask is for money to purchase the above mentioned supplies and maybe even fund a visit to a nearby working farm.
