Love for Lincoln

Spende geschützt
Lincoln Geerken, the two-year-old son of a co-worker and good friend of mine, Nick Geerken, was diagnosed with a brain tumor last month. More specifically, he has a rare congenital anomaly called a nasal dermoid cyst with an intracranial connection, and he needs brain surgery to remove it. After making a trip to Boston Children’s Hospital earlier this month, Nick and his wife Kristin have decided that Lincoln will have the surgery there.

Lincoln is scheduled to have a CT scan on Aug. 28, to determine how far past his skull and into the brain the connection goes. Depending on the results of the CT, the neurosurgeon in Boston is hopeful that he may be able to remove it from the bridge of his nose and not have to open up his head entirely. This is Nick and Kristin’s hope also.

We will know more after the doctors in Boston review his CT. A surgery date is not yet scheduled.

Lincoln is otherwise healthy. He is a vibrant, happy kid who loves to play outdoors in the water and in the sandbox. He loves to go for walks and say, “Hi!” to everyone he sees. He brightens the lives of others daily. Nick and Kristin feel beyond blessed that he is their son.

Lincoln's medical bills and travel expenses from local doctor visits, testing, visits to specialists and to Boston Children’s Hospital are adding up quickly. This is the reason we are asking for your support for Love For Lincoln.

Nick has been with the Home Depot for 12 years and has been an assistant manger for the Fort Wayne Home Depot for seven years. Nick is an awesome boss, well respected and an incredible mentor in his role as a manager at the Home Depot. I only mention this because my hopes are that with your support, Lincoln will have the chance to grow up to be just like his dad.

Friends, family, and co-workers of Nick are rallying to support Lincoln in his difficult journey and are asking for you to join us. This is going to be tough on them finically and emotionally. Any amount of support can make a difference. They are hard-working parents very deserving of your generous support at any amount that you're able to contribute. Please also help by forwarding the Love For Lincoln rally of support to all of your friends and family on social media.

Thank you for continuing to keep Lincoln and his parents in your thoughts and prayers.
