On Saturday, February 22, 2025, in Henderson, NC, my little brother, Johnny L. Mayfield, Jr., a 23-year-old expecting a child, was taken too soon, tragically killed by a Vance County Sheriff deputy using excessive force. We are heartbroken, leaving us with unanswered questions and unbearable grief.
