Fund Beneficiaries - Local restaurant and hospitality workforce that are currently laid off or can’t start their seasonal positions because of the restrictions created by COVID-19.
The Mimslyn Inn has been that local small business always ready to support the community with donations, rooms, services and so much more. This time is no different. The COVID-19 crisis is effecting us all - some more than others. That is why we have decided to be the first to start a campaign to help raise funds for our restaurant and hospitality workers.
The funds raised will be used to purchase food and other supplies needed by our restaurant and hospitality workforce that are currently laid off or can’t start their seasonal positions because of the restrictions created by COVID-19. Their lives have been turned upside down by situations beyond their control and we want to help.
Funds 4 Food will benefit local restaurant and hospitality workers by supplying a POP UP FOOD HUB where workers can drive through and pick up food. The food hub is located at The Mimslyn Inn and will operate every Thursday from 2-4pm. Workers will be asked to show a recent pay check stub to verify they are in the industry these funds are supporting.
We also hope this will lessen the burden on the community food pantry, Page One. Allowing Page One to concentrate their efforts on the increased demand they are receiving from other sectors of the population.
Depending on the funds received, we also hope to purchase gift certificates for workers to redeem at local restaurants and small markets trying to stay open during this time.
Massanutten Resort is a significant partner in our effort, donating food weekly.
