Fundraising for an accessible disabled extension

Hi, my name is Elaine and I am fundraising for my brother, Byron, and his husband, Steve.

Steve has had long term back problems and had spinal fusion 20 years ago. When he began with drop foot difficulties we began to speculate over the thought of Motor Neurone Disease.

Steve was diagnosed with MND in January 2022, which means neither of them can work anymore as Byron is now Steve's full time carer as Steve is now wheelchair bound and cannot get upstairs to use the toilet or shower. Steve has been a hardworking man his whole life so losing his independence has been devastating for them both. The plans for a single storey extension on their home in Ellesmere Port have been passed and £30,000 grant been awarded which is fantastic! However, the estimated cost for the building of a wet room and bedroom, as well as changes needed to the downstairs layout (a kitchen that Steve built himself will become the new access point to the extension) for example, this will cost around £70,000 so any donations will be so gratefully received. The couple brought their wedding forward and tied the knot in April. I am so proud of them both as Byron's big sister and we need all the help we can get to ensure the time they have left together will be filled with happy memories safe in their own home.
