Fundraiser for SWA Ecuadorian Staff

Small World Adventures is raising money to help our Ecuadorian staff get through this pandemic. COVID-19 has hit all of us hard. There isn't a single person on Earth who has escaped its effects, and the coronavirus situation in Ecuador has been particularly bad. Our local staff --guides, cooks, and drivers--usually have other work in the off season, but this year there has been no work whatsoever since SWA ended our season in late February. On Monday, November 16th, Small World Adventures decided to cancel our entire winter Ecuador season leaving our team without work. We wrestled with the decision for months while closely following COVID-19 developments, working on protocols with doctors, weighing our team’s need to work and your desires to paddle against the risks of international travel. Ultimately, we just do not believe it is responsible to encourage international travel at this stage in the global pandemic with cases spiking and governments reinstating lockdowns and travel restrictions.
SWA is offering a speaker series to help raise money for our team. Your donations on this platform will get you access to the talks! It's $10 per talk, but feel free to donate more if you are able. We know our team will be incredibly appreciative.
Darcy will kick things off with an Amazon River expedition talk on Thursday, October 1st at 7pm EST. Special guest Don Beveridge will join in for the Q & A session after the talk so you can ask him whatever you want about the Amazon Expedition!
Liam Kirkham will host a talk on Thursday, October 15th at 7pm EST about his solo Grand Canyon trip that he took to celebrate his 30th birthday. Nothing like a little alone time to contemplate a new decade!
Next we'll host an "ask the guides" series with Andres Charpentier and Bryon Lopez on October 22nd at 7pm EST. The guys will join us on Zoom to field any questions you might have: What's life like in Ecuador with the pandemic? What's it like to kayak 200+ days per year and live in one of the most river-dense countries on earth? Ask them anything!
100% of proceeds from the talks will go to our Ecuadorian staff. Our hope is to help them make ends meet until we can once again run kayaking trips in Ecuador. Admission to each talk is $10 (so if you want to listen to all 3 talks, donate $30). Of course, if you'd like to donate more, that's awesome! All additional donations are welcome. Once you've donated, just shoot us an email telling us which talk(s) you want to listen to and we'll send you the links!
