My name is Arozo Sultani. I was born in Afghanistan in 2001, and, until late 2019, I lived and worked in the country’s capital. I am now a refugee residing in Tajikistan with my mother and five siblings. Growing unrest in my home country, particularly in the Kabul region, has led to an increasing amount of persecution for my family and me. I worked as a Journalist in my home country, but the result of my work led not only to threats of physical danger toward myself, but to my family as well. My job saw me reporting on political corruption and social instability in my country, in addition to the environmental and societal threats caused as a result of that fall out.
While my family and I are grateful for everything we’ve received from the government in Tajikistan, and are indebted to the kindness of the country’s citizens, we wish to seek refuge in Canada, where we have family. I am hoping that the proceeds from this Go Fund Me page will help to offset the costs needed by our sponsors in Canada. We understand that the current COVID-19 crisis has created financial difficulties for everyone, but my family and I would be truly appreciative for any support that can be spared.
