Fundraiser for Selina: Household Costs and Hospital Travel

Hi everyone,

Our family is reaching out with heavy hearts to ask for help supporting our sister Selina and her devoted husband, Adam. Many of you know that Selina was in a devastating car accident about 15 years ago, which left her paralyzed from the waist down. Over the years, she has faced countless health challenges, but recently, things have taken a much more serious turn.

Selina has been diagnosed with Median Arcuate Ligament Syndrome (MALS)—a rare and extremely painful condition that affects her ability to eat, drink, and even breathe comfortably. She lives with constant nausea, vomiting, severe abdominal pain, and extreme weakness. She's lost a significant amount of weight and is in pain nearly every moment of the day.

In addition to MALS, Selina underwent surgery to remove an IVC filter, which unfortunately resulted in severe complications. Her blood vessels were damaged during the procedure, requiring five stents to be placed. These stents keep clotting, despite multiple replacements, and doctors at UAB have been testing for clotting disorders and autoimmune diseases without finding answers.

Selina’s condition has worsened so much that she now requires full-time care. Her husband, Adam, has had to stop working in order to care for her around the clock—helping her in and out of bed, assisting with showers, and managing her daily needs.
