As many of you may or may not have heard, the last few months have been a challenging time for Jennifer and her family. This past November a few days after receiving the covid booster, what started as numbness and pain in her feet turned into a diagnosis beyond what anyone could have imagined. After numerous tests and endless trips to the doctor’s, there were still no answers as to what was happening. Finally, after a few weeks, Jen was taken to Buffalo General where doctors diagnosed her with the rare disorder Guillain Barre. The hospital did its best to give Jen the care she needed to manage her extreme pain and discomfort but this disorder has proven relentless. Shortly after being discharged from one hospital, she was soon again admitted to another where they finally diagnosed her with transverse myelitis, severe neuropathy, and complex regional pain syndrome meaning at all times the pain was there. This time Jen spent over two weeks away from her husband and kids, undergoing further treatments and working with the medical team to try and manage her pain and inability to walk due to this horrible disease.
Despite many challenges, Jen has remained positive through this whole process. She was trying her best to protect herself by getting the covid booster and always did the right thing protecting herself and her family. We all know Jen as being the strongest and most determined person in the world, but she can use our help at this time. Since being home from the hospital, life has not returned to normal for Jen and her family. Fast forward four months and Jen is now looking at the possibility of surgery and a second opinion at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Unfortunately, the doctors currently have no answer for when this illness will end for her. Jen has been out of work since November 2021 and does not know when she will be returning. Jen would literally do anything for anyone, and taking care of people is one of her best personality traits and her career. Unfortunately, due to this disease, she cannot currently continue her work as a Registered Nurse. Instead, she is being forced to be at home focusing on trying to heal. Please consider donating to help ease some of the financial burdens that she and her family have endured since the beginning of this illness. Also, please keep Jen and her family in your prayers as they continue to go through this difficult time. We appreciate anything and everything you are willing to give. Thank you all so much.
