Fundraiser for ICHH, CRY & LauraLynn

Donation protected

July 24th, myself (Bryan Mannion), Aedan Hogan, Fergus Clarke, John Cosgrove and Niall Curran are taking part in Gaelforce Connemara, an adventure race covering 32km. Consisting of a 14.5km run, some of which is up the Maamturk Mountains, a 19km cycle and a 1km kayak, we've decided to try and raise some much needed funds for three amazing charities.

Inner City Helping Homeless (ICHH)

The ICHH outreach volunteers are on the streets 7 nights a week, 365 days a year offering practical supports to people that are sleeping rough in doorways, parks, squats and places off the beaten track. Their teams leave the office at 11pm and are out on the streets until the early hours of the morning. They have 2 walking teams on the northside of the city and 2 on the southside of the city. They are supported by 2 mobile outreach units that assist people sleeping outside the city centre. The teams are stocked up with food, drinks, sleeping bags, toiletry packs, clothes and also offer accommodation supports and most importantly a non-judgemental compassionate ear. In 2019 the ICHH outreach teams had 30,480 on street engagements which highlights the incredible work done by our volunteers. The highest single night figure was 222 people in 2019 during the midst of the worst homeless crisis in the history of the state.

Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY)

The CRY Charity has three main objectives in the work that they do; To raise awareness of the condition known as Sudden Cardiac Death or Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS) through media campaigns and information meetings, to provide free counselling and support for families affected by sudden death or cardiac conditions and to support the Centre for Cardiovascular Risk in Younger Persons (CRYP). All services provided by CRY Ireland are free. CRY is a self-supporting registered charity. The bulk of the money they take in comes from various fundraising events.

LauraLynn, Ireland's Children's Hospice

LauraLynn is a hospice for children with life-limiting conditions and residential care for children and young adults with disabilities. They employ approximately 140 staff within it's teaching, fundraising and care provision departments. LauraLynn's mission is to provide a Community of Care that delivers evidence-based, personalised services to children with palliative care needs, complex care needs and complex disabilities, while also providing family support services and a home to it's residents where quality-of-life is paramount.
