Fundraiser for Emet Tauber's Wedding Gown

Beschermde donatie
I met Emet through the online EDS community. I am the creator and admin for several online health support groups and I am a patient advocate for patients all over the world. Through this work, I met Emet, a truly incredible and inspirational person who is currently in hospice because he is dying from complications of Ehlers Danlos Syndrome.

Emet is planning a dream wedding, scheduled for March 24th. For this, he would love to wear a wedding gown but wedding gowns usually take 6 to 9 months and are not custom made. Furthermore, gowns are not compatible with wheelchairs because they get caught in the wheels, take up the whole chair, drag on the floor etc. As a wheelchair user myself, I am acutely aware of these issues, having gone gown shopping in a wheelchair myself, so I spend a lot of time designing and creating adaptive clothing and gowns that are compatible with wheelchairs. I firmly believe that we should've have to sacrifice on our dream gown because it doesn't work with a wheelchair, so I design them to fit perfectly. I also work hard to make the fit perfect so that the wearer feels gorgeous, beautiful and comfortable on their special day.

We are starting this fundraiser because the goal is to have the perfect gown made in the next week. Because we have so little time, my plan is to drive from the Washington DC area to PA over the next few days to take measurements and work with Emet to design his dream gown. He has a fundraiser for the wedding, but we are trying to avoid using any of the money from that fund for the gown as they have a lot of other wedding costs (and anyone who has had a wedding knows that weddings are EXPENSIVE!) I will be making the dress as cheaply as possible, but I am unable to make it for free as I have been in the hospital for the last couple of years and cannot afford the materials myself.  If anyone is willing to help out with the cost of Emet's dress/gas money for the trips from DC to PA etc, we would greatly appreciate it and you would be helping to make Emet's day absolutely perfect. If you would like to talk more about costs or ways you can help, message me and we can organize a time to chat. I have many testimonials and reviews if anyone is interested in seeing those as well.

Here is the description from his wedding fundraiser for anyone that would like to read more:

Emet is slowly fading away, but before he does he’d like one last thing, to get married. His drs day they can’t give a prognosis exactly.

Emet was a dedicated activist, rabbi, teacher, friend, and service dog handler. Emet dies of Complications of ehlers danlos syndrome, Gastroparesis and Intestinal Failure. After too many infections Emet went on hospice.

So we’re having this wedding . To remember Emet’s life, to give him a night where he forgets he’s dying, and celebrate the love, friendship, and commitment between Emet and Claire.

We don’t have a lot of time. We set a date of March 24th, the day before her birthday and right after Purim. We just need to pull it off with no money and making sure everyone stays healthy. Please help us, we’re desperate.
