Funding the new Byron Rescue Squad ambulance

Donation protected
It’s time! The Byron Rescue Squad is ready for a new ambulance. Their current ambulance
is 14 years old. It was at the Churchville Fire Equipment Repair Shop undergoing some much-needed repairs at the start of COVID. The cost of these repairs has begun to rise; therefore, it is time to start looking for a replacement.
The Byron Rescue Squad averages over 150 calls a year in their little community within Genesee county. They are part of the Byron Fire Department, #1 located on Route 262. The EMS Services started in 1975. Rescue Squad Captain, Brad Nickerson, has been an EMT for
over 17 years. The Squad has recently moved to an Advanced Life Support level to better help those in need. There are currently 12 EMT’s in the Squad. Three are certified as Advanced EMT’s. The Byron Rescue Squad does not charge for its services and all of the members are very dedicated volunteers. They receive no pay for their time and service.
So, how does the Byron Rescue Squad pay for an ambulance and medical supplies? The answer is easy. The residents of Byron donate each year when they receive a Fund Drive letter. Other donations received during the year all add up and keep this valuable service going. With the arrival of Covid19 the need for EMS has remained high but their ability to do fundraising has become very difficult. A new ambulance to cover the high number of 911 calls in the area is desperately needed. A GoFundMe page has been started in addition to the annual Fund Drive Letter this year. Folks can find a link to the GoFundMe page from the
Byron Rescue Squad Facebook page, or donations can be made by sending a check to The Byron Rescue Squad, Byron, NY 14422. The Rescue Squad is asking for your help to spread the word and support this worthy cause.
This pandemic has brought with it many worries and hardships, but somehow has also brought out the very best in people. The Byron Rescue Squad needs your help in securing funding to replace their 14-year old ambulance. A new ambulance will cost $170,000-$200,000 not including the equipment. However, a new ambulance would give our dedicated and willing volunteers even more ways to come to the aid of their community.
