Funding for The Overcomer Training Center

Mark Fong completely altered the trajectory of my husband, Richard Perry’s, life when he recruited Rich from the football field to join the HS wrestling team during his Junior year. Marks ability to teach, encourage and mold his athletes and students has lead to countless testimonies of young men and women who tell a tale of how a single teacher/coach inspired them to strive for a better life, overcome adversity and never settle for anything less than their best.

It doesn’t stop there, not only was Mark Fong an incredible coach, but he’s become a father figure to Rich and family to all of us. He goes above and beyond, staying in contact with his athletes and students long after they graduate, checking in on them and continuing to encourage them to be the best version of themselves.

After stepping down from being the Head Coach at Middletown High, Mark Fong is on a new mission and we cannot wait to see all of the lives touched, changed and saved through The Overcomer Training Center program.

If you want to be a part of something special, something that will literally save lives and create change in a community that otherwise gets overlooked, now is the time to do that.

Together we are aiming to raise $45k to transform this space into an after school program where children are welcome to grab a meal, receive tutoring and attend wrestling practice.

This isn’t an ordinary wrestling club, the Overcomer Training Center will become a safe haven for children; it will offer opportunity for growth both off and on the wrestling mat while also providing meals, a relaxed environment, life lessons and so much more  The Overcomer Training Center will encourage boys AND girls to have a growth mindset, set goals, overcome adversity and develop grit all while building community and developing leadership skills.

The doors are set to open Winter/Spring 2021. Funding is still needed to complete building renovations and equip the space with wrestling mats, kid friendly furniture and ultimately transform the building you see in the photo into The Overcomer Training Center. This will be a 100% FREE program to any child who cannot otherwise afford it, no child will ever be turned away—which is exactly why this funding is so important.

I am asking you today to become a part of this movement and help us create change in the lives of those who need it most, through a sport that specifically teaches overcoming adversity.

Don’t allow this town or these children to be overlooked. The state of Connecticut needs this program, these children deserve this opportunity; Please help us provide it for them. Every single dollar helps Mark get closer to his goal and these children closer to the mat.
