Black Men's Police Precincts Pray In National

Donazione protetta
I am raising funds to organize, promote and maintain a nation-wide Black Men's Police Precinct Pray-In campaign.
The goal is to attract 1 million Black men and boys to form teams all over the country with the purpose of praying, once, daily, in front of every police department precinct ( there are approximately 19,000 ) in every city and town in the country. The most undeserved population in the country will visibly offer a daily reminder to the, approximately 800,000, police officers in every city in the country to treat all people fairly, and with dignity, and to remember that black lives matter, too.

Black men (and women) will pray for each and every officer's safety, during their shifts while reminding them to operate in integrity, with impartiality, encouraging them to exercise wisdom and compassion toward the communities to which they made a vow of trust and accountability. While there are many other areas of our racial divide that require change, bad policing is the singular, most visible demonstration of systemic racism and is a palpable. It is a reflection of the underpinnings of hate and indifference that exist in hearts and minds of far too many people in this country who do not wear a police uniform. These sentiments run like a deep river, waiting for an opportunity to break forth, only then, capturing the attention of people who believe things need to change for the better for their Black brothers and sisters.

I believe real change must happen in the hearts and the minds of people who feel that Black citizens lives are somehow less valuable than their White counterparts, who believe that privileged people's lives are more important than those who have less, or nothing. There are many paths by which the healing of generationalwounds may be achieved. Showing up to pray for our law enforcement officer is the path I’ve chosen. I ask for your help along this journey.

I am Audrey Harris, a 72-year-old African American (Black) man. I am a singer and teacher. I grew up, in the South, under Jim Crow Laws. I experienced institutionalized segregation, witnessed the birth of integration, and am still living under racism. In the 60's, under the tutelage of Dr. King and many others, I "Sat-In","Sat-Down", marched around, protested and got arrested. I faced the guns of the North Carolina National Guard, military tanks and was tear gassed. I ran for my life, saw friends abused, beaten and some killed. After all of that, I and my fellow Black Citizens are still treated as “less than,” as if I am unwanted, don't belong, as if I don't have a stake i the welfare and benefits that are peculiar to this country. When injustice happens to one of us, it happens to all of us. It is a heavy burden that we, Black people, carry every day. It is past the time for every person of color to be able to live their lives free of fear of our police and the unfair social, educational, economic, judicial systems that were systematically designed to oppress, suppress, and eradicate Black people in America. The system is 400 years in the making, and counting.

Donations raised from this fund will go toward establishing the National Pray In's non-profit status (with a chapter in all 50 states), recruiting, training , research, education of the plight of American blacks, media equipment, materials for broadcasting, print media and permanent reminders (posters, stickers, badges, t-shirts,bumper stickers, and other advertisement).

Privileged or not, we must all be treated with respect, honor, and love as one of God's creations. We are men, created in the image of God, no one greater or lesser than another. Whether white, red, yellow, brown or any combination thereof, we must be able to enjoy the benefits that are afforded to the privileged of this nation, granted to them simply by the color of their skin, allowing them to refer to Blacks as “other”, “those", and "their community.” I submit that we are all "One Community" as Americans. Let's make this real and true. Let's make America great for all who call this nation home. I think Dr. King would be proud of what we will achieve. It starts with you...donate generously.

May God Bless America and all of His creation who live there.
In love and the Spirit of right, I salute you.
