Shen’s Bday fundraiser 4 the Manyana firies!

It’s my birthday, and please instead of giving presents, please donate to these firefighters, the Manyana, Bendelong (Red Heads community) RFS brigade.

This selfie was taken to distract the kids as we waited for hours by the side of the road as the Manyana VOLUNTEER firefighters from the RFS battled fires on the roads so we could all escape to safety.

They then turned around and went straight back into infernos defending their community, staring down roaring walls of flames with some hoses
and a couple of trucks.

For night after night after night.

They are exhausted, they must be terrified (although they didn’t  show it), and they’ve got nearly two more months of a fire season that daily threatens their lives, homes and wildlife. The situation was so bad they were door knocking for diesel donations to run their fire trucks. 

There are lots of other important places to give to as well, so please don’t feel like this is the only thing that’s important- but now, for me, I owe these folks my life, and that of my family. So family and friends, if you were gonna get me something for my birthday anyway - make it this :) 

ps. They’re so small, they weren’t listed as a brigade you could give money to on the NSW RFS website, so the community there has put together an account for me to deposit the funds into. Any fee that go fund me takes I’ll top up into the final donation.
