Fund Raising for Pat (Paddy) Ingram
Donation protected
Jim and a friend of Pat (Paddy) Ingram. As you will no doubt know, on 9th March 2023, Pat went into hospital to have open heart surgery. Whilst on the operating table, Pat suffered a major stroke affecting the left half of his brain. Pat had a 20% chance of survival and family were told that even if Pat did survive he would be bedbound 24/7 with no quality of life. Thankfully, Pat pulled through however, he was left paralysed down his right side and unable to speak.
Where there is life there is hope and in the following days, weeks and months, Pat exceeded all expectations. Pat began his recovery on the stroke unit in the John Radcliffe Hospital. From here he went to Marcham Road Hospital followed by a stay in the Nuffield. Through intensive rehab, Pat has regained some feeling in his right leg. He is now able to walk around the house with a walking stick. He is yet to regain any feeling in his right arm. His speech is also still heavily affected. He is very determined and is trying very hard with his speech, we are hopeful this is something that will continue to make improvements.
Pat finally returned home on Monday 21st August, almost 6 months since he initially went into hospital. While the improvements Pat has made are phenomenal and inspiring, there are many things he needs to make life at home as easy as possible. His rehab is still ongoing and day-to-day tasks that people take for granted such as standing up and sitting back down are very strenuous tasks for him. While it is amazing for Pat to be home and he has achieved so much, he still has a long road ahead with his recovery.
Therefore please help me raise the money to purchase a Riser & Reclining chair to help with his standing & posture. Thank you.
