Hello my name is Kimmi and although this is incredibly hard for me to ask for help, I am asking for donations towards my cat Milton's life changing dental surgery.
I started fostering Milton in March of this year. I was contacted by the Humane Society of Kawartha Lakes about a cat who was severely depressed and shut down at the shelter. They said he was terrified and hiding at the back of the cage and was hardly eating. He had been brought in as a stray very sick and under weight.
I agreed to come in and take him home to foster. I made a new home for him in my second bedroom and I spent every morning and evening sitting on the floor or bed trying to earn his trust.
After a few weeks of decompressing I introduced him to my other cats and let him have free rain of the house. In no time at all, Milton bonded to my female cat Lucy.
The months went on and more trust was being formed, although still very skittish, some snuggles were starting to happen! When suddenly I got a text from the humane society that someone was interested in Milton. I tried to get him in the carrier to take him back to the Humane Society and I was.. let's just say not successful! I texted them that I was having trouble and I would try again the next day... I woke up the next morning and had a horrible feeling in my gut that I couldn't fathom having Milton start all over again scared in a new place with more new people. Especially since he had bonded to Lucy. So I went to the Humane Society the next day and paid for his adoption and welcomed him to my family :)
During Milton's first wellness visit with my vet, the Veternarian had stated that he was in serious need of multiple dental extractions. Or further health complications are likely to occur. With Milton being estimated around 9-10 years old and was brought in as an unfixed stray, you can imagine the state of his teeth.. And as most of you may know, dental surgery in animals is quite expensive!
As my close friends/family would know I have just recently lost my other male cat Charlie who had many health struggles the last two years that I had to put most of my extra money into. With career changes, and losing my vehicle due to damage during the ice storm this past year, my expenses have been very high. So that is why I am seeking assistance from my community. Milton is having trouble eating so surgery is imminent.
Milton's surgery has an estimate of $2000-$2700 +. I have attached the estimate from my vet to this Gofundme page. All funds raised will go directly to Miltons dental surgery.
I really appreciate any help! My animals mean the world to me! This sweet soul has endured so much already and deserves a longer healthier life. No donation is too small! If you are unable to donate can you please share!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, and for helping if you are able!
Kimmi
