Fund Jakob Tyree's Superhero Film Project: "Ashe"

My name is Jakob Tyree and I'm a soon-to-be graduate from the VCU Cinema Department. Before I graduate, I want to create a film that shows my creativity and writing skills, as well as my fellow student's hard work. In a world fueled by anger and hatred, I want to make a superhero that uplifts us, using characters that act and feel a lot like ourselves. That’s what I’m hoping to achieve with my film “Ashe.”

Logline: Following a devastating accident, a tormented woman, determined never to use her powers again, is challenged when a mysterious man reappears to seek revenge.

I want to make a superhero world that focuses more on the human aspect of these powerful people instead of their powers. Using close cinematography, we'll be focusing more on how our heroes (and villains) feel and how they think. By making these heroes feel more like themselves, I hope to allow the audience to feel like they can be the hero. They can do and be just like the ones we look up to.
