Support a Devoted Single Father Fighting for His Children’s Future
Putting My Children First — Always
Hello, my name is Brian Patterson, and I’m a biracial single father doing everything I can to protect and nurture my two young children. They are my heart and soul, and I am committed to giving them a life filled with stability, love, and opportunity.
Right now, I’m facing an overwhelming legal and financial hurdle that could impact their well-being for years to come. I need your help.
Why I’m Reaching Out
For the past four years, my children and I have faced an incredibly challenging custody journey. We’ve reached a point where a court-appointed custody evaluation is essential to move forward. This evaluation will provide the court with an objective, professional assessment focused solely on what’s best for our children.
But here’s the challenge:
While I was initially told the evaluation would cost $1,000, the actual fee from a qualified evaluator is $10,000 upfront, plus an additional $4,000 if their court testimony is required. Without this evaluation, key decisions about my children’s future — including access to necessary medical and emotional support — are delayed indefinitely.
Why This Matters So Much
This evaluation is not about choosing sides — it’s about ensuring that our children’s unique needs are understood and prioritized by the court.
My son, who has been diagnosed with autism, needs therapeutic services that aren’t currently available to him. His emotional growth, communication skills, and confidence are at risk.
My daughter has struggled with untreated medical issues, including vision and skin concerns, which deserve the necessary attention.
Both children are in elementary school (kindergarten and first grade), and the years ahead are crucial to their development. The evaluator’s insight could help create a plan that supports their health, education, and emotional stability.
A Difficult Journey
Throughout this process, I’ve done everything possible to keep moving forward. After losing my job, I worked in nursing homes — until injuries forced me to leave. I paused my job search to care for my mother, who is blind, an amputee, and undergoing dialysis. I now work as a home health aide, but the income barely covers our basic needs.
With rising rent, ongoing legal fees, and everyday expenses, I simply cannot afford the cost of the evaluation on my own. This process is emotionally and financially draining — but I can’t give up, because my children need me to keep going.
How You Can Help
Your support will help me:
Cover the $10,000 fee to begin the custody evaluation
Prepare for potential $4,000 testimony costs in court
Ensure that professional recommendations about my children’s care are heard
Maintain a safe, stable home environment where they can thrive
No matter the amount, your contribution makes a difference. And if you're not in a position to give, sharing our story is another powerful way to help.
A Message of Hope
This isn’t just about legal procedures — it’s about two children who deserve a future where their needs are met and their voices are heard. I want my kids to grow up knowing they were protected, supported, and surrounded by love — not just from me, but from a compassionate community that believed in them.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for standing with us during this critical time.
With sincere gratitude,
