We have big news. We're adopting a child!
In 2011, through reading multiple passages in the Bible, I, Autumn discovered the Lord’s heart for orphans (James 1:27, Psalm 68:5, Psalm 146:9, John 14:18, ect.). From there I began to pray and seek wise counsel on the topic of adoption. That is when I realized that what the Lord did for me, and for all of us, was adoption. Even though I’ve done nothing to merit His love and inheritance, He calls me His child. We have been spiritually adopted by our heavenly Father.
Even before knowing who God had chosen as my husband I felt His call to a be a good steward of my finances and began saving for the time when He would place a child in my life. When Jacob and I began our relationship, I shared my heart for adoption early on as being part of what I knew would be my future and I prayed it would be something he could see God calling him too. Jacob prayed, researched and also sought wise counsel.
Now, more than two years into our marriage we have begun the process of an international adoption from India. We have been fortunate enough to be surrounded by biblical parents of both biological and adoptive children. These families have been a model for us to understand more about what it means to be a family and what the adoption process involves. We feel prepared to grow our family now that we have clear direction from the Lord and a community to support us through this adoption process.
While we have been saving and planning financially for the adoption process, we still have a long way to go. An international adoption can cost anywhere from $30,000 to $40,000. We ask that you consider committing to partner with our growing family through prayer and, if you are able, financially.
Above all else, we desperately desire to be covered in prayer. The adoption process can be a very stressful and long process (2 years minimum). Please, remember our child in your prayers. You can pray for us in these specific ways:
-Pray that the Lord would protect our child while we are not able to care for them.
-Pray for Autumn and Jacob during this time of waiting to meet their child and while preparing to become parents.
-Pray for our child’s birth family. We know that whatever their circumstances, they are making a very difficult and painful decision to not parent their child.
-Pray that the birth mother would be blessed for her decision to give her child life and to make a physical sacrifice for nine months.
-Pray that the paper work would be processed quickly and correctly through the Florida state government, US government and the Indian government.
