Front Line Masks - Production Costs

From here in Washington state, we are getting the calls that we hoped wouldn't come. Front Line workers have run out of masks. We need to expedite trims, and possibly bring a factory online.  Learn more at www.frontlinemasks.com and Facebook.com/frontlinemasks .

All of this, to make a 7 minute mask that takes 1/6th of a yard of fabric, that may save a life.

Friday, two weeks ago, a nurse called me in tears. She was afraid that she would go to work and not have a mask to wear. A doctor called and said she was getting her will in order. The stories flowed in.

Why to me? I'm a technical apparel designer, and I could do something to help. Over the next week I designed, and made production ready, the 3D Front Line Mask. The last week has been cobbling together the trims that are now very hard to come by. Fabric, elastic...

The community around us, Bellingham, WA has been incredible, donating fabrics from their stashes and making masks we have kitted for them.  Many have asked "how can I help with a donation?".

Thankfully we have not stopped there. We have expedited fabric from suppliers around the nation, 5000 feet of Latex Free elastic showed up two nights ago. 100 yards of cotton will deliver this afternoon,..from the East Coast. More is on its way.

My family and I have taken a risk and spent over 2 thousand dollars on making this happen. We are happy to do it, although, its not in the budget. If a community from around the world could help us, we could make sure we can keep going, and provide as many masks as are needed to those in need.

Whats even better, is that the same pattern that is saving lives here in Washington state, a hotspot for Covid-19, is available for anyone in the world to make. We have opened the pattern up, and it has been downloaded over a 1000 time all over the world.
