From zero to five under five

Donation protected
You read correctly. Steve and Bec Karas will have gone from 0 to 5 kids in less than 18 months. You can read their detailed story below but here's the abridged version and the reason for this campaign for them.

Bec and Steve got married 2013.

Bec and Steve tried to have kids for 5 year and couldn't.

Bec and Steve then fostered 2 kids in October 2018.

They then we're told about the kids baby sister who was born at the start of 2019.

They started fostering her aswell in April 2019.

In October 2019 Bec and Steve found out they we're pregananant with identical twins.

January 2020 Bec was admitted to hospital with complications and is currently on bed rest for a minimum of 6 weeks in hospital.

January 2020 Steve is juggling providing for his household, taking care of Bec who is Hospital-Bed-Bound, taking care of 3 foster kids at home.

Aims of our campaign:

Any financial assistance we can provide for them would go a HUGE way towards helping ease the pressure this family is already facing.

The current financial needs are the following:
- some financial relief for Steve to take as many weeks off as he can whilst Bec is on bed rest to care for the kids at home and when the twins come
- extra medical bills/medications that will arise out of this extended time in hospital for Bec
- a car upgrade to something with 6 anchor points for all those little humans to fit in and travel around safely.

Please give generously to this beautiful family whose journey is nothing short of amazing!

Please share this page so more people can help out a couple who have done something amazing for kids who wouldn't have had a chance in life. They are truly remarkable. So thank you in advance!

Detailed Story from Bec and Steve:

This is one of those stories that has Jesus' fingerprints all over it. If you get anything out of our story, our prayer and hope is that it would be the realisation that God isn't disinterested or distant in our lives but He is very much present and committed to all who call upon His name.

He is God and He is good, and this story is really all to do with him. As far as marriage's go, Bec and I started ours just like any other. We spoke about how many kids we wanted to have and wrote down all our favourite names to in preparation for when they entered the world. I was stoked to stay a big kid while being able to influence and mold a bunch of mini-me's into legit legends. Bec's dream job was always to be a stay-at-home-mum as well. So needless to say we absolutely couldn't wait to be parents.

And so you'd understand how absolutely gutted we were sitting across the Dr. in 2014 hearing it was going to be near impossible for us to have children. Four failed rounds of IVF and thousands of dollars later only exasperated the feelings of failure and shame we were experiencing as well. It was a deeply isolating time.

And yet the reality is that if we hadn't gone through that experience, we wouldn't have considered the prospect of fostering kids. So in the spring of 2018 we welcomed a 2.5 year old girl and her 1 year old brother. And then 6 months later their new baby sister entered the world. Who we also welcomed to our rapidly growing family in April 2019.

People ask me (Steve) what's it been like going from 0 to 3. The most accurate way I respond is that it has been a phenomenally beautiful nightmare haha. It's been awesome and it's been horrific and it's even been both at the same time. But it's definitely been amazing. Bec's open confession now is that, "God closed my womb to open my arms to those who needed a home." It's been such an obvious answer to our prayers and God's commitment to His people. The most obvious thing is that this has been such a God thing. Because if you were to find that piece of paper we wrote our favourite names on all those years ago when we first got married, you'd find the names of all 3 of our foster kids on there. Jesus's fingerprints are all over this bad-boy. And even more so with what He was going to do next.

At the start of October, 2018, we welcomed the kids into our care. At the start of October 2019 we celebrated the kids receiving permanent orders to be in our care until 18 years of age. And still Jesus wasn't finished yet. Because then, on the 1 year anniversary of the kids coming into our care, Bec and I received a phone call. It was our doctor... Calling to say that Bec was pregnant... With identical twins...

The reality that in 18 months we will have gone from 0-5 children all under 5 years old all points to a good and gracious God working in the background at every single turn. We cannot make this stuff up. God is real, He does care, He is at work for the good of His people and He is so, so, SO incredibly kind. Life truly begins when we encounter Him in the person and work of Jesus. Not before. And so we stand on the precipice of 2 more kids entering into our family. Needless to say we are experiencing every emotion an emoji could convey and then some. And yet we have a peace knowing that because God has been faithful to us up to this point, there's no reason to think He's going to let us down now.

In response, this page has been set up to help with their needs (which are mentioned below). Both Bec and Steve truly feel so incredibly blessed already. Anything else they get is an enormous help but also a huge bonus.
